Ministry Purpose #6: Service to God and our community "I urge then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for everyone -- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior" -- 1 Timothy 2:1-3 (NIV) Elders, Deacons, Deaconesses, and Trustees These servant leaders lead by example and help in various ways with the work of the church. The elders teach, oversee ministry, serve the Lord's Supper, anoint the sick, and provide spiritual leadership for the church. The deacons also help with the Lord's Supper, seasonal events, and administer a Benevolent Fund for those in the church family who develop a financial need. The deaconesses prepare and serve meals, including the communion trays. The trustees are responsible for the upkeep of the church land and buildings.
