The acronym Awana comes from the first letters of "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed" in 2 Timothy 2:15.   This verse calls each of us to "do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth."  (NIV)

Awana started as a youth program in Chicago in 1950.   Today, more than 10,000 churches in the United States and 3,000 churches in 110 other nations have Awana Clubs.

We have an Awana program for children each Wednesday night from September through April for kids from age 3 up through the 4th grade.    Awana's goal is to reach boys and girls with the Gospel and train them to serve Him.   Books of Bible verses are memorized and recited each week.  Jo Ann Westover is serving her second year as our Awana Commander in 2007-08.
